Since 1967 teams from Ireland and Australia have played occasional matches of International Rules Football, created from the combined rules of Gaelic Football and Australian Rules. In 2013 the Australian side, consisting of predominately First Nations players, travelled to Ireland and contested two games against their rivals there.
